REGULATIONS
Age of participants:
Minimum age of participants: 40 years.
Minimum aggregate age for each female team with three fencers: 140 years.
Minimum aggregate age for each male team with three fencers: 150 years.
For the calculation of the age of participants, the age at the 1st day of competition is taken into account (May 27, 2010).
Regulation:
Each country can only enter one team per weapon and gender.
Each team comprises three fencers and up to two reserves (optional).
Each match comprises 9 bouts.
Bouts are fenced to 5 hits in 3 minutes.
In the rounds of poules all 9 bouts in each match must fenced to completion
Each team will nominate a captain, who will communicate to the Technical Directorate (TD) and to the President of the Jury the names, ages and the order of the bouts and the substitutions.
A fencer can be substituted by a reserve according to the following rules:
• The aggregate age of the team must at all times comply with the age rules.
• Only one substitution will be allowed per match.
• The captain must inform the President of the Jury a full bout in advance of any substitution; an immediate substitution will only be possible in case of injury.
• A second substitution in case of injury will require authorization by the TD.
Each participant must be a citizen or subject of a constitutional part of Europe as defined by the European Fencing Confederation.
* If an eligible competitor wishes to represent a European country other than that of his or her birth, he or she must have been ordinarily resident in that country for a minimum continuous period of twelve months during the twentyfour months prior to the closing date of the entries to the European Veterans Fencing Championships concerned.
* Where a competitor has already competed in the European Championships for one celebration of the Championships he or she may represent another European country at a future celebration provided that they are eligible, with the approval of the EVFC and written permission of the fencing federation for the country for whom the participant is registering to compete
* If a fencer has represented one country in a European Veteran Championship, Team or Individual, he/she may not represent another country at the next European Veterans Championship.
* If a fencer has multiple nationalities he/she may choose the country he/she wishes to represent. If he/she has already represented one country in a European Veterans Championship, Team or Individual, he/she may not represent another country at the next European Championships.
* If a fencer has changed representation from one country to another he/she may not represent the prior country or any other country at the next two European Veterans Championships
The participant must produce the following at registration for a European Veterans Fencing Championships:
1. A valid passport or identity card (for identification, proof of European
Citizenship and confirmation of date of birth) and, if fencing for a country
other than of his/her birth, proof of ordinary residence for the required
period in that country.
2. A valid licence card from the national fencing federation for the country for
whom the participant is registering to compete.
3. The Entry fee in euros or the equivalent in the local currency.
It is recommanded to use their name and the code of their country on the back of their jacket at Epee and on the back of the lame at Foil and Sabre.
Each member of each national squad should bring the FIE approved national insigna on both legs.
It is recommanded all members of a national team to use the the same uniform as far as national insignia are concerned.
Formula:
A unique poule will be fenced if there are up to 5 teams.
In the event of 6 or more teams, poules of 3 or 4 teams will be fenced, followed by direct elimination. No teams will be eliminated after the poules, and they will provide the order for the direct elimination board.
In the Direct Elimination stages bouts are fenced until a result is obtained.
The losing semifinalists will fence for the bronze medal.
Classification:
In the event of a unique poule, the classification will be made in accordance with the number of matches won.
In case of a draw in number of matches won, the number of bouts won will be taken into account.
If the case of a draw in the number of bouts won, the difference in hits scored/received will be taken into account, and the team which has scored more hits will be the winner. In the direct elimination, a match will be fenced for 3rd and 4th place.
Trophies:
Gold medal for the 1st classified team, silver for the 2nd and bronze for the 3rd, including the reserves.
Equipment of the fencers:
All equipment must comply with the FIE rules.
Transparent masks are not mandatory.
In the foil competitions the use of masks with conductive bib is mandatory
Inscription:
Inscription of the fencers in the EVFC competitions to be made exclusively by the veterans National Associations where they exist, or by the registered representative of the country in the EVFC, but not by individuals fencers.
The FIE license is not mandatory, but all fencers must have valid licenses from their National Federations. Fencers must present their Passports or identity cards for the age control.
Technical Directorate:
The head of the Technical Directorate will be elected by the Organizing Committee.
In addition, the EFVC will elect another three members.
Presidents of the Jury:
The Organizing Committee will request a 2 Presidents of the Jury per each country delegation.
For each missing President of the Jury a fine of 250 € will be paid.
Responsibility:
The Organizing Committee declines all responsibility for accidents and damages to persons or goods, before, during and after the Championship.
Registration:
Registration must be made before April 20, 2010
A fee of 150 € will be paid for the registration of each team, per weapon and gender.
In the event of late registration, a fee of 250 € will be paid for the registration of each team, per weapon and gender.
The EVFC Membership Fee, of 15 Euros per nation, must be paid at registration before any national team is accepted in the championships.
